The center will update weather monitoring and forecast information at Olympic venues every three hours. It will also provide real time information about Beijing's major roads. Visitors to Beijing during the Olympics can also turn to the center for weather information at historical sites and places of interests. All information will be available on TV, radio, newspaper, text message and roadside screens.
Beijing also plans to zap the rain by over-seeding clouds to prevent rain drops from forming.
Guo Hu, Director of Beijing Meteorological Bureau said "We are prepared to disperse rain in Beijing in three ways. We may employ planes, rockets and artillery shells."
