Chinese ambassador to UN Zhang Yesui said, "The six-party talks constitute a very effective mechanism. As the chairman of the talks, China has done a lot of work to promote the de-nuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. As the talks are currently facing some difficulty, I am confident that China will continue to play a positive and constructive role. As a neighbor of Afghanistan, China is watching closely the development of the situation in Afghanistan. We support the international community in putting in more resources to help Afghanistan expedite its armed forces and police construction, to realize its economic development and to restore national security and stability."
