Han Meilin Gallery opened in Beijing
The Han Meilin Gallery opened in Beijing, Wednesday, boasting an entire collection donated by painter Han Meilin. This is China's biggest gallery named after a single donor.
The gallery is on display in the Tongzhou district of Beijing, in a sprawling building covering ten thousand square meters. It is home to over 2000 pieces of art, including paintings, calligraphy, sculpture and folk handicrafts.
All the works were donated by Han Meilin, who is one of the most established painters in contemporary China. This is the second gallery to be named after Han Meilin. The first was opened in 2005 in Hangzhou, the capital of east China's Zhejiang province. Both galleries are open to the public free of charge.
